Outdoor Pathway Lighting Options

I try to research and review as many different types of pathway lighting options as I can before making a decision. One site I particularly like is called FrontGate.com. FrontGate’s website just has a look of quality and reputability. Now granted, I have never shopped there, but I just might after making final looks. We’re not there yet, but today I did want to examine some of their pathway lights and the pros and cons I saw.

The first exterior light I looked at was the Pro Series II Solar Spotlights. These are standard looking but are said to have a very high output in terms of brightness and bright outdoor lights are certainly at a premium. Typically, solar pathway lighting isn’t all that bright because they don’t have the same electricity build up wired lights do, but the Pro Series has 20 feet of cable so I can only assume they also plug-in as a backup to being solar powered. Made of cast aluminum, you can bet these will be durable and Front Gate says they are weather proof. Description also points out they last up to 10 hours with a full charge so you can probably count on 7 to 8 hours of charge. $99.50 for a set of two doesn’t sound like a bad price if they live up to the specs.

For the more decorate path light, take a look at the Arlington Solar Path Lights. These also have a glass lens (way better than plastic) covering the bulbs and are made of stainless steel. The Arlington Pathways have larger than normal solar panels to be more efficient in soaking up sunlight and can hold 2 NiMH batteries. They come in sets of 6 for $129.50 and you can choose your favorite finish between bronze and copper when ordering.

The Arlington’s would work great in the mulch bed separating your fresh cut grass and a delicate garden patch or ulterior or elevated landscape surface. Imagine how golf courses distinctly separate the green from the rough or patches outside the golf course. If you put a divider between your lawn and an isolated landscape, having path lighting marker out that edge not only illuminates the focus you’re bringing to that area of your backyard, but also gives attention to the decorative outdoor lights, which in this case is a good idea since they have an understated elegant but proud air about them and are in a word beautiful.
