Best Landscape Pathway Lighting
When you look for the perfect landscape pathway lighting, you find a lot of pictures and item descriptions, but there aren’t many opinions on what will work best for your yard or around your patio. I’m going to do a little bit of both in this post, discussing some of the different pathway lights and the bare bones of what they give you as well as my thoughts on how to integrate them into your exterior.
The Kichler Dome Path Light received two high marks at Landscape Lighting Shop. The Kichler Dome Light is made of diecast aluminum and contains Wedge T5 light bulbs. The price is $53.99. This will look great in your classic, sectioned off landscape with the medium size rectangular rocks forming a boundary between grass and your garden or mulch area. It’s better if you leave the vegetation spacious because the light will be able to roam and slither around plants and give a very neat presentation. These are dark copper brown and will require wiring as they are not solar powered.
The RAB Lighting LL22 Pathway Light was also a solid purchase for customers. The only thing that I really didn’t like about it was the stake was actually sold separately. To me, if you buy the path light, you at least get the stake. The good thing about this landscape lantern is it is made from real metal and is overall high quality and well constructed. The light bulb will be an easy installation if you need a replacement and because it’s very sturdy, it will withstand beat downs even from the scorching Arizona sun. $27.04 for the fixture only at Landscape Lighting Universe.
If price is a concern, look at the Intermatic CL191 Malibu Low Voltage Premium Landscape Light at Amazon.com. For only $15.76, you’re basically getting a 4 star pathway landscape light. One of the reasons it doesn’t make the perfect path light is the stake is very short. So short, that if your dog brushes up against it, the Malibu will probably come out of the ground. Also, the bulbs are very fragile and it’s difficult to unscrew the top leading to scratches and some damage to the plastic if you aren’t very careful. One more thing is the diffuser probably should have been glass rather than plastic.
Nevertheless, I found the Malibu low voltage landscape light to be a good value because it’s made of lightweight metal and not merely cheap plastic. Also, the 11 watt bulbs are surprisingly bright. Another worthwhile characteristic is you can buy these in large quantities of 6, 10 or whatever because they’re such inexpensive landscape pathway lighting.
