Awesome Pathway Lighting Ideas
You can’t walk if you can’t see. Well, actually you can but you get the idea. Pathway lighting not only provides beauty to your landscape but also has a sense of purpose. I mean pathway lights could save you from a raccoon or escaped ferret on your way to the garden so they’re definitely useful unlike cherubic water fountains which only gather sludge and smell bad. With that stunning intro, let’s look at some home brewed recommended pathway lighting options.
Lowe’s (or Lowenstein as I call them) has the Portfolio Solar Bronze Pathway Lights in a two pack for $39.98 (98 cents, not 99). Reviews were shaky as the plastic stakes are breakable. Can you imagine getting a new set and trying to drive them into the ground only to have them break? Ouch. However, as one satisfied customer noted if you dig a hole first, you won’t break them shoving into the ground (touche). The good news is they’re made of die-cast metal outside of the stake and real glass instead of plastic (I guess that could be bad news for us reckless people).
My overall take on these is they can be a fairly attractive option but you need to handle with care. Not a horrendous price.
The solar pathway lights from EarthTechProducts.com look like an extremely good value (think McDonald’s prices with restaurant quality). Right now a set of 6 is $59.89 which for you doctors out there means they’re about $10 a light. These are dusk ’til dawn, super bright and have that all important photo sensor cell. Made of plastic but still got really good reviews.
If it’s overhead pathway lighting you seek, then try looking at the Arts & Crafts Pathway Light, Weathered Bronze by Progress Lighting. This is a more expensive option than ground pathway lighting but it’s going to look a lot more svelte over your sidewalk or patio and you won’t run it over with a lawnmower. Got 4 star reviews from people that bought it at $62.83. These lights for pathway have a yellowish glow from the tint and one commenter said her backyard looked “upscale” from them. You will want to buy the Progress Lighting ground stake for $19.47 as an accessory to the light.
TJB-inc.com (never heard of ‘em either) has another highly recommended pathway light (only 2 ratings though) named the P-5A. The ground spike is made of aluminum and the lights are JC Halgen with frosted lens. These are not solar lights so you will have to deal with burying the wiring. These were $59.18 and I don’t see a package count so I’m assuming that’s for only one light. Wow.
