Today I was looking for even more solar pathway lighting options and I came across a pretty good deal at QVC of all places (go figure, I thought they sold just TV jewelry and collectables). Anyway, for some reason they had a 6 piece set for a nice price at $38.86. The pathway lights are called the Alpan Lighting Copper Finish Solar Pathway Light.

pathway lights

With the Alpan Lighting, the odds are, you’re going to be a very satisfied with your purchase, but the odds are certainly not overwhelming. In fact, they were nearly 2:1 in polarity. 25 rated the purchase as a 5 star product while 11 rated these outdoor lights as only a 1 star. And with this I want to note that so many times, all types of products ordered over the web – from interior lighting to artificial plastic plants – become like two roulette spins where some people end up big winners and others end up wasting their money.

One customer was so happy with the outdoor lights, they ordered five sets. They did say they needed a replacement light on one, but that Alpan was extremely cooperative and is sending a replacement. Their user experience gave the lights 11 hours of illumination. They noted the stake was metal (common among higher end models) and the garden lights were very easy to assemble.

Another buyer exclaimed that every single light work and elaborated that these were well made. They reiterated the metal posts but added these solar pathway lights were also constructed with glass coverings. If you’re concerned about style, you’ll be happy with how these look and you won’t be disappointed in the quality reviewed this customer. However, at the other end of the spectrum, other customers were not so happy about the Alpan Solar Pathway Lights.

Of particular concern to potential buyers is that several buyers reported the Alpans not to hold a charge. Put simply, many said they just don’t work. I just can’t recommend playing a guessing game with your money on these.

Since the Aplan’s were so shaky, other solar powered path lights you may want to look at include: Woods Industries Moonrays Dover Pewter Solar Fixtures, the White Nichia Outdoor Plastic Garden Lights by Malibu Solar, and the Sylvia Single Contemporary Bronze Solar Fixture which is also made by Woods Industries.

Solar garden path lights really aren’t that expensive for the most part, but you never want to throw away money on lights that don’t work. For next post, I’ll be compiling a list of the highest rated and brightest solar path lights. Until then, try researching some of the pathway lighting ideas I offered previously.
